Our History

Serving Hampton County Since 1878

The Hampton County Sheriff's Office has a rich history dating back to the formation of Hampton County. The office has played a crucial role in maintaining law and order within the county and upholding the safety and security of its residents.

Hampton County was established in 1878, and the Sheriff's Office was established around the same time to enforce the law and serve the community. Sheriffs have been responsible for upholding the law, investigating crimes, maintaining the county jail, and serving legal documents — adapting over the years to new challenges, advancements in technology, and the changing needs of a growing county.

Today, the Hampton County Sheriff's Office continues to serve the community by providing law enforcement services, ensuring public safety, and upholding the law, collaborating with local, state, and federal agencies to address modern challenges such as drug enforcement, cybercrime, and community policing.
